Growl, bite, clarity. Tight, punchy lows, crunchy mids, and crystal-clear highs, and no humming. The set is matched very well, I don’t notice any volume variances, the recommended wiring setup is great. So glad Tonerider came up in my search results for a great HSS pickup set. I’ve tried a few popular brands in this one particular guitar, and I still can’t get over how much better these are. Sure, tone can be subjective, but I can’t imagine anyone would be disappointed in these. Great pickup, price, and service. I’m converting all of my guitars to Tonerider.

Bought to upgrade a yamaha pacifica 112. Set received in less than 5 open days. It fit perfectly in, I also upgraded the electronic and followed the tonerider wiring diagram for 1 H and 2 S with 1 vol and 1 tone push pull to split. It works nice with no humming and give me a new very versatlie guitar with great sounds.

I’ve built several guitars and having been a speaker engineer for Oxford (we made the 12s in Twins) am very particular about tone and pickups. Have a Strat with vintage early 60s pups for that chimey sound but wanted a hardtail that had versatility. The Alnico 2 HSS set does it. The front single coil is sweet syrupy blues tones with a hint of sparkle on top of vibrato. The middle has a bit more mid range than many strat pups giving it a bit more life and cut. 2 and 4 positions aren’t quite as quacky as vintage pups but provide nice tonal variety. The A2 humbucker in back is great. Sounds like an A5 compared to the single coils but has the sweetness of Alinco 2. Great puch and grit but not ear piercing shrillness of a typical strat rear pickup. Quite a lot of versatility in tone. The quality is top notch. Go with two tones with .022uf caps. They don’t muffle the tones but rather take off a little sizzle and punch up the mids a bit. If you want a versatile pup mix with sweet sound yet plenty of drive in the bridge this is a great setup.
