ALNICO II MAGNETS FOR GREAT SUSTAIN.
Our Vintage 90 set uses Alnico II magnets for great sustain and unrivalled clarity. Played clean, they deliver authentic single coil tones but with more girth and body than a Strat or Tele pickup can deliver. Crank up the gain for a thick yet clear and articulate distortion tone.
Construction-wise, each Vintage 90 pickup offers incredible attention to detail. Nickel-Silver is used for the baseplate, and the hook-up wire is vintage-spec braided single conductor wire. The neck and bridge pickups are a RWRP set, offering hum-cancelling performance in mid-position when used with a standard three-way toggle. Black and Cream covers are available as standard.

I bought a Firefly Les Paul P90 just to try out these pickups. The guitar itself was of better than anticipated quality, but the stock pickups were very muddy. These pickups made it come alive. Adding a little crunch on the amp gives them a great little bite. I’ve tried a number of more expensive pickups but Toneriders hold their own against the best of them. Highly recommended.

I fitted a pair of these to an Eastwoon Sidejack baritone to replace the stock Alnico 5 based pickups and am really happy with the result. Stock pickups were a bit hot and ‘modern’ sounding but the Toneriders give the baritone the sound I was looking for. It is hard to describe sound in a meaningful way but I feel the baritone range is now much more even and clear sounding, still plenty aggressive but quite responsive to pick attack and don’t get muddy in the lower frequencies. They are fairly quiet in terms of hum for P90s too.

I installed both neck and pick up vintage P90 into my Yamaha revstar rss02t.
Brilliant !

I installed the neck and bridge set in my Yamaha RSS02THML Revstar Standard. To my ears they perform just as Tonerider describes them and I prefer them to the stock pickups. I’m blown away by the articulation and the frequency generated by the Vintage 90, very pleasing. I find it hard to put the now upgraded guitar down, every note just sings.
