Full Description

The Alnico 2 Plus is a medium output humbucker set made for players with an "Appetite" for rock, punk, blues and more. Combining mid-range bark and treble bite, this versatile set crosses the line from vintage warmth to searing rock!

This set is  "overwound" with single gauge AWG42 copper wire using a custom scatter pattern that mimics hand wound coils.  The bridge pickup gets about 400 more turns of wire than the neck pickup to ensure a good volume balance and more punch where it’s needed. The neck and bridge pickups are both powered by a Rough Cast Alnico 2 bar magnet.

Covers, Colours and Spacing:

The Alnico 2 Plus comes in our range of standard bobbin colours:  colours: black, white, zebra, reverse zebra and double cream bobbins. Our nickel silver covers are available in gold, nickel, and our “lightly aged” nickel finishes.

All neck pickups are made with our standard spacing (50mm).  Bridge pickups come with Standard Spacing (50mm) and F-spaced (52.4mm) options.

Wiring, Screws and Springs

All Alnico 2 Plus humbuckers are made with 4-conductor hook up wire as standard, allowing for coil splitting and series/parallel wiring options.  Imperial Screws (#3/48) and springs are provided.

Another outstanding pickup!

I’ve got a number of guitars with Tonerider pickups, including several guitars with their Alnico 2 Classics. I recently bought a new budget guitar that needed a pickup upgrade, so I decided to give the new Alnico 2 Classic Plus pickups a try. They are fantastic! They sound very similar to the regular Alnico 2 Classics, but are just a little thicker with a bit more midrange. It’s not a big difference and is barely noticeable, but there’s a difference. I would highly recommend either version of this pickup as you can’t go wrong with either one. I think pairing a Plus bridge with the regular neck would be a good combo as well. Tonerider pickups are among the best I’ve tried, regardless of price, and I’ve tried a lot of the more expensive boutique brands.
