Full Description

The Pure Vintage set from Tonerider is the perfect upgrade for any player looking for that warm, vintage Stratocaster sound.

Never harsh, full of chime and equally at home with clean or dirty amps, this is the set that defined the Tonerider approach to pickup making more than 20 years ago. Wound with heavy AWG42 wire and scatterwound to mimic the "Holy Grail" of single coil guitar tones - the late 50s strat.

The Pure Vintage set uses rod magnets with our "Modified Vintage Stagger" allowing for great string to string balance on a wide range of instruments.

Each pickup is fully wax potted to reduce any microphonic feedback, and comes supplied with screws, latex height adjustment tubing and an installation guide.

Classic Strat and others

I heard nothing but good an I installed a paf + rebel in a ES type guitar ( I repair guitars an equipment) and was amazed about the sound. The strat pickups which I ordered, I didn't place jet. To busy.

Tonerider pure vintage

I wanted to upgrade an old Fender strat, existing (70s, stock) p/ups were a bit tired and muddy. Looked at DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan etc. alternatives, but single coils were unexciting and humbuckers all sounded distorted.
Well, these pure vintage Toneriders really do the job. Really clear, bell-like tones, fat, but with nice separation. Well-made and a great price!

Pure Vintage - my second set of Toneriders

Having had a great experience with my first set of Toneriders (Alnico II Classic humbuckers in a Tokai Les Paul) I didn't think twice about ordering a set of Pure Vintage single coils for an Sx 'US Alder Series' strat project. I have not been disappointed. They are exactly as described on the website i.e. warm, full of chime and sparkle and not at all harsh. They sound amazing through both the clean and dirty voices of my 1 watt valve amp, although my personal favourite tones are the clean ones, which sound as good as any strat I have played (either Fender or copy). I wired them in using the 'Gilmour' 7-way setup, with a push-pull volume pot to allow me to also select neck and bridge together. The pickups are amazing in that mode as well and are defined enough to give a sound distinctly different from the 5 strat tones you get from standard wiring. I couldn't be happier with either the tone, build quality or value for money of these pickups. Both of my Tonerider-driven guitars are now definite keepers!

Sweet sounding pick ups!

Bought these after researching on line and seeing some good reviews on them. Price was right, quality top notch! Great addition to my cheap Strat! Sounds much, much better now. Such a positive experience that I’m thinking of getting some humbuckers for my “ chibsons”… thanks Tonerider
