The Alnico 2 HSS Set

I purchased this set to replace the stock pickups in a Sterling Cutlass CT 50 . Stock pickups were overly trebly and the stagger was pretty extreme vs the 12 inch radius fretboard creating imbalance in the high strings + the humbucker severely lacked harmonic depth. After some some research I selected the Tonerider alnico II set - I wanted some quality sounds but didn’t want to spend on a fender set for this guitar ( and Fender also don’t offer a specific HSS after market set.) These do not disappoint - very well made - the build quality is very good and immediately evident - the tone is everything I was hoping for - the single coils are truly alive and responsive with classic Strat chime without any harshness , the modified stagger now gives an even string response . The alnico II humbucker is loaded with harmonics and a massive improvement vs the stock HB . The “ in between “ position 2 and 4 sounds” are particularly nice . For the money , these are excellent pickups - awesome value . Recommended if you want some real high quality well made proper pickups without paying fender or other big name prices .

I installed these pickups on a Squier Classic Vibe SSS with a new pickguard. The result is exceptional. I'm very happy, it's as good in quality as the pickups I have on my Fender Custom Shop Mexican Design (Fender Custom 69)

I've ordered this Alnico 2 HSS Set in order to modify my cheep chineese made J&D Strat Mini equipped with one HB at bridge position and one SC at the neck position.
It was my intention that this "small guitar" should become the look and feeling of a standard Stratocaster thus I modified the pick-guard with a third pickup slot in middle position and mounted the HSS Set, new CTS pots and orig. Fender 5-way switch, original switchcraft jack, orange drop cap. and resoldered the whole thing as per standard strat wiring.
And what can I tell you now.... It sound great and comes very close to real Fender sound. I would not hesitate to play a Gig on stage with this Mod-Guitar in order to demonstrate, what a pickup- and other changes change could result in.
Of course, next to this I also replaced the Tremolo with a HQ-Trem and mounted HQ locking mechanics for better tone stability and intonation.
Summary: I now own a good Fender sounding light weight Guitar in small size.

I fitted these to a player strat that was Okay but uninspiring.
These pickups are extremely well made and have a beautiful tone, they have transformed the player strat in to the sweetest sounding strat I have ever played.

I bought jet js 400 and thought that it needs pickup change. Tonerider was my choice , it was the best one I ever made. It is so GOOD sound , better than all my Strats.
