The Duke J

I had the regular jazz tonerider pick ups mounted in my paranormal squire
jazz bass for a few years and I liked them very much. The bass is pimped with a babic bridge. The bridge gave him a very homogen tone world. No dead spots
everything sounds homogen.
The Duke jazz pick ups make the bass more percussive, even when played
very pianissimo and brings the dead notes to live with a pop or high dead’s with a shimmer.
That’s what I was looking for for playing blues or jazz.
Works with rock to, imagine the bass riff of : In a Garda da Vida.

Bought the Duke J to work in the bridge position of a PJ bass and man, it delivers. It has some very nice lowend and growl for a J, less pronounced Topend and a clear midrange. It has a usable, unique sound on it's own but really shines paired with a P. The blended sound improved so much due to the Duke J, better Lowend, better Snap, just mich better. And I haven't even swapped the cheap P pickup out yet! Can't wait for the Duke P to arrive to work alongside it's Duke J brother in the neck - what a great pickup this is!

Bit disappointed really , ordered the pick ups with the raised pole piece's, I was sent the flat one's couldn't be bothered to sent them back, pick ups seem ok

I bought a bridge position Duke J to complement a fairly heavy P pickup and it fit the bill excellently. I am not averse to 60 cycle hum and there is some with the Duke, but it sounds great, clear and thick at the same time while matching the level of the P pickup better than the previous. Amazing value in this pickup and the buying experience was flawless. I will 100% be looking at Tonerider again the next time I need pickups.
