Vintage 90

Love it as the rhythm pickup in my Tele along with a TR Alnico 2 Blues treble pickup. If you have a Tele I highly recommend trying a P90 soap bar as the rhythm pickup and ToneRider makes a pretty darn good one. Important to note that the TR vintage 90 rhythm pickup is south up polarity. So, you need a treble pickup with north up polarity.

I put one of these in my Les Paul Junior style guitar and coupled it with a 50's style wiring loom that I made for it. Sounds fantastic at full pelt and also cleans up nicely with the volume backed off. Great pickup for the money.

I put a set of these in a Japanese strat copy rather than going down the standard single coil upgrade route. The body needed a bit of reworking to fit them but once I heard them immediately come to life I was so happy with this decision. The real difference is the massive amounts of sustain, greater warmth and more interesting harmonic overtones I get with these versus what was there even though the previous pick ups were not bad. These pickups are also way more sensitive to picking touch I mostly pick with my fingers and these pickups really respond to my attack and can go from warm, soft and clean to gritty, loud and with lots of character without having to touch any settings on my amp or effects. I absolutely love this tonal range you easily get which I’ve never got with other pickups apart from just being louder without any change in the tonal characteristics. The pickups were delivered to Australia in no time and were nicely packaged and all the useful info on the website made the whole experience a joy. This is my first set of tonerider pickups but I’ll definitely be trying out some others on another strat build I no longer play because of the uninspiring pickups I bought previously for it. The price of these makes this more appealing and the sounds I’ve got from this experience gives me a lot of confidence I won’t be disappointed
